Myrtlewood’s Palmetto Course was the first in Myrtle Beach to play along the Intracoastal Waterway, as architect Edmund Alt fused the area’s coastal beauty with his memorable design. The par 4 18th, which plays along the waterway from tee to green, is one of the area’s most recognizable challenges 50 years after the course’s opening, but Palmetto’s popularity is about much more than its beauty. The course, which is better than ever following the recent greens and bunker renovation project, is one golfers relish the opportunity to play every year and you will too.

Myrtle Beach Review

From the moment you step onto the first tee, the wide fairways invite a mix of confidence and challenge. Edmund Alt’s design makes you think your way around the course, with smartly placed bunkers, water hazards that sneak into play, and just enough risk-reward options to keep things exciting. What stands out the most are the greeens with how well they hold shots, making for a satisfying game experience.

This course flows naturally along the Intracoastal Waterway, offering stunning views, especially on the back nine. You'll find the scenery becomes part of the challenge. Palmetto is a course you'll be glad you played and one you'll return to year after year.
